Firstline Therapy (FLT) is a specialized therapeutic lifestyle change program unlike any other program, as the FLT system targets the underlying causes of chronic illnesses by incorporating a sensible eating plan, exercise, nutritional supplementation and stress management.

FLT is not just a weight loss program, it is used as a first line treatment for common, chronic health problems (eg. high cholesterol, insulin resistance, unhealthy body composition). The FLT program uses medical food to enhance the programs effectives, which will shorten the time to reach your goals.

This therapeutic lifestyle change program has been demonstrated to be effective in human clinical studies and is recommended by leading health organizations as a first-line treatment option for many conditions such as:

  • Obesity
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Stroke
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Stress-related disorders
  • Fatigue disorders
  • Menopause
  • Prostate problems

The FLT program uses the Mediterranean diet philosophy and low-glycemic eating to prevent and restore these common health issues.

Bioimpedance Analysis Testing - (BIA) is a reliable method of measuring body composition, assessing percentage body fat and lean body mass. Altered body composition and excess weight can lead to a variety of health concerns such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, hypertension, high cholesterol and constant fatigue. BIA testing also computes the ability of cells to store energy, cell permeability, the quantity of healthy cell membranes, overall cell health, water found in and outside of the cell, and your body's current ability to absorb/utilize nutrients and expel cellular wastes.

Health and well-being are closely tied to the health of the body's fat-free mass and body cell mass compartments. By focusing attention on these mass compartments, therapeutic strategies are more effective because results can be measured objectively. The applications that BIA can be use for include: acute/chronic disease, obesity/weight loss, athletic performance, lifestyle assessment, eating disorders, and geriatrics.

BIA testing is a crucial step into understanding your own unique body composition and is key in developing your health program. BIA testing can be used throughout your program to measure and track your progress.

The BIA Analyzer, uses electrodes similar to EKG electrodes, these are hooked up to your wrist and ankle on the right side of your body. The machine passes a harmless, ultra-low level electrical current through the body, taking only a few minutes to complete the test.

Once your body composition has been measured, specific lifestyle modifications can be implemented to elevate levels of lean mass and improve cellular health.

The accuracy of the test requires the client to follow proper testing preparation before a test is conducted.

To ensure you have the most accurate test results, please follow the guidelines below:

  1. Do not eat for 4 hours prior to testing.
  2. Do not exercise for 12 hours prior to testing.
  3. No alcohol consumption within 24 hours prior to taking the test.
  4. Drink at least 0.5 L to 1 L of water one hour before your test.
  5. Avoid caffeine the day of your test.
  6. Do not wear pantyhose.

BIA testing will not be performed on clients, who are pregnant, have implantable electronic device(s), or who have been diagnosed with heart problems.
